Does anyone mind if I add a class to the list (working off suggestions of others)

The Torch-Wielding Troll

Lives and breathes for one thing - to publicly humiliate all forum posters for their lack of foresight, indepth game knowledge, real-life knowledge, and of course for their lack of any real cognitive ability.

Sample Quote: "WTF, I can't believe you are actually still living. Uninstall the game and throw yourself off the nearest tall building."

Punishment: To be shown to other forum posters as their true self - a 14-year-old, skinny youngster with dirty jeans and no chest hair.

Edit: forgot to say how much this made me laugh. good stuff.

This thread made my day. Thanks a lot! Lemme take a crack at a complainer of the world...

The Elitist

Believes he is the best player in the game, and that everything he does is the epitome of brilliance, when it is usually the single most idiotic thing one can do, causing harm as opposed to good. When the desired effect is not achieved, this complainer states that the game is horribly broken and that it sucks.

Sample Quote: "OMG! Frenzy doesn't make Healing Signet activate faster? FIX NAO!"
Or better yet...
"OMG! Echo and Mending doesn't give me more regen! THIS GAME SUCKS!"

Punishment: Sent to USMC boot camp to see what it's like to be forced to listen to people who actually know what they're talking about.

Are we certain that Contempt's post wasn't not-so-subtle parody in its own right? I could easily read it as such.

Anyway, while were at it, may I present you with the F(lame) Warriors of the Internet list?
http://redwing.hutman.net/%7Emreed/

Sample:
Acne
Acne constantly whines about how, like... his life and everything really sucks and stuff. Usually a middle class teenager with an allowance, unlimited access to a computer and WAY too much time on his hands. Acne's vague existential arguments ...

Go read the rest yourself. Don't blame me if one or more of the entries are uncomfortably familliar.

You play an online game that you enjoy, there's one surefire way to spoil the experience: read the forums on the official site. There you will find a vast underworld of lost souls keening their misery onto your screen. A game you thought was entertaining, well-balanced and attractive will be torn apart before your very eyes and pronounced lacking in every conceivable way.

It doesn't matter that the complainers spend as much time on the game as you do, and probably more. While they may disagree on the nature of the flaws, they are united in agreement that whatever those flaws may be, they are unforgivable.

Herewith then, a guide to the deranged, degraded inhabitants of the forums. You cannot defeat them, they provide precious little experience, but if they get their claws on you, they may turn you into one of their own.

The Power Craver

Wants only one thing -- more power with less effort. Any downgrade in power is infuriating. Any upgrade is insufficient.

Sample Quote: "I can't believe they nerfed the pillar of lava spell! How am I supposed to kill twelve ogres at once now?"

Punishment: Forced to admit that no matter how powerful in the game, still works as a cashier at Kroger in real life.

The Magical Realist

Doesn't understand what a "game" is. Constantly makes arguments based on what would be "realistic," even if the game is set in a fantasy world run by wizards and pixies.

Sample Quote: "You can't tell me a Mondlagarian Tiger Warrior is stronger than a Swamp Troll. That just doesn't make sense!"

Punishment: Sent back to kindergarten for remedial make-believe classes.

The Majority Stockholder

Seems to believe that $15 a month buys you a seat on the board of directors. Doesn't realize that a hundred thousand other people are ponying up the same amount.

Sample Quote: "I've e-mailed the developers several times telling them that Fire Paladins should have the axe-throwing skill. They haven't changed it, but they're still taking my money!."

Punishment: Forced to work customer service for an online game company.

The Emancipator

Sees the game as a titanic struggle between the evil expressive developers and the poor, downtrodden gamers. The evidence? Every rule and limitation in the game.

Sample Quote: "I don't see why I have to complete quests to get epic weapons! If I want my second-level Bumblefur Bard to wield the Deathsword of Arat'rak'k'k'k, that's my right! Quit telling me how to play!"

Punishment: Sent to Sudan to experience first-hand what oppression actually feels like.

The Eternal Quitter

Just comes on the forum to let everyone know he's quitting for good and to spend a dozen paragraphs explaining why. Then does it again three months later.

Sample Quote: "For real, this time."

Punishment: Forced to actually quit.

One-Issue Poster

Only has one complaint, but posts about it 15 times a day. This is because nobody else cares.

Sample Quote: "THE LAVENDER STARBELT IS ACTUALLY PERIWINKLE!!!! WHY DON'T THEY FIX THIS??!!!?!"

Punishment: Lavender Starbelt changed to lilac.

The Lifestyler

Wants a bunch of cosmetic changes to a single type of character. Exhibits an eerie level of identification with said character.

Sample Quote: "The Pastry Elves' laugh should be less bubbly and more tinkly. Our giggle should remind you of gazing at the stars as a child, and our smile should make you think of the taste of honey on a cool spring morning."

Punishment: Character icon replaced with accurate photograph of self.

The Deathmonger

Main complaint about the game is that you can't kill everything. Secondary complaint is that the things you can kill don't suffer enough.

Sample Quote: "Why can't I make the baker watch me kill his wife and child, then force-feed their flesh to him until his stomach bursts? What is this, Barbie's Horse Adventure?"

Punishment: To be determined, pending DNA analysis of freezer contents.

The Torch-Wielding Troll (by LouAl)

Lives and breathes for one thing - to publicly humiliate all forum posters for their lack of foresight, indepth game knowledge, real-life knowledge, and of course for their lack of any real cognitive ability.

Sample Quote: "WTF, I can't believe you are actually still living. Uninstall the game and throw yourself off the nearest tall building."

Punishment: To be shown to other forum posters as their true self - a 14-year-old, skinny youngster with dirty jeans and no chest hair.

What about the other classification

The one upper:

Loves to pretend he knows all about everyone else and he thinks he is above them for it.

Sample quote: "Herewith then, a guide to the deranged, degraded inhabitants of the forums. You cannot defeat them, they provide precious little experience, but if they get their claws on you, they may turn you into one of their own."

Punishment: to be told that he has no knowlege on other people. and should stop assuming he has the right to act like he knows them enough to lable them as "deranged" or "degraded"

Not everyone in these forums that expresses an opinion is like this dude.. regardless of how old you are i belive you may need to grow up and realize that people have opinions and that they are entitled to them withought being labeled...

but i must say yes this thread is hilairious

Dear "narutoscryed",

1- Shorten your Quotes when theya re this long, its forum curtosy.
2- Read this thread, seriously, that every first page has a lot to do with your post.
3- Grow Up, Nobody who reads Naruto has the right to say to another person "Grow Up".
4- Start by clicking on the very first line of the very first post

5- To the other people who have read this, posted in here and are about to post, plz, have no mercy, but don't flame.

And don't think that just because you say its funny means that everything you said was sarcastic and you didn't mean it, we are not dumb.

I read it over again and found I didn't really fit and then I thought of another, and unfortunately more familiar, classification... (although I could easily be called a one-upper )

The White Knight

Constantly stiving to clean this cesspool called the internet, the White Knight despises foul language, rude comments, and all the other unsavory tools of his arch nemesis - the Torch-Wielding Troll. Be wary, the White Knight's righteous anger can turn upon you in an instant.

Sample Comment: "Why are you posting in this thread Forum Troll? Your rantings are those of an attention starved child hiding behind the wall of anonymity that is the internet. Be gone from this thread!"

Punishment: To have it undeniably proven (although they will try to deny it) how similar his/her actions actually are to those of the Troll.

Oblique Commenter

A post-modernist pop-culture loving nerd who says nonsensical things for nonsensical reasons. His ultimate goal is to derail a discussion thread. Sometimes welcome when posting as a response to threads that have already flamed out of control.

Sample Quote: "Waffles or Pancakes? Which is better?"

Punishment: Put him in a psychiatric ward where crazy people say nonsensical things everyday, all the time.

The Scrooge

Lives his life in hopes of aquiring as much non real money as possible, likes to be the banker when playing monopoly. Dislikes any changes to his non real incomes, decreases result in increased hatred for game developers, increases are never increased enough and result in increased hatred for game developers. Dislikes the 'commoners' who are just out to have fun!

Sample Comment: "OMG Anet nerfed my Bot again now i need to actually play the game, grrrr"

Punishment: To be introduced to Farming Taxes and Farmers NI by the Players Union which are then shared between all other non scrooge players
